Lash Lift vs Lash Extensions: Which Is Right for You?
Share
Both treatments give you longer, more dramatic-looking lashes without mascara — but they work in completely different ways, and the right one for you comes down to lifestyle, maintenance, and how low-key (or high-glam) you want your routine to be. 🤎
The short version
- Lash lift — curls and lifts your own natural lashes. Lower maintenance, more natural-looking, lasts 6-8 weeks.
- Lash extensions — adds individual synthetic lashes to your natural ones. More dramatic, needs regular fills, lasts 2-4 weeks between fills.
Lash lift: the natural upgrade
A lash lift works with what you already have. Your natural lashes are lifted and curled from the root, so they look longer and more open without any added length.
Best for you if: you want a wide-eyed, no-mascara-needed look that still feels like you, prefer low daily maintenance, have naturally straight lashes that mascara struggles to hold a curl on, or are active and don't want to think about your lashes in the shower.
Aftercare is simple but matters. No water or steam for the first 24-48 hours. After that, a gentle, oil-free approach keeps the curl intact for longer. A conditioning serum applied daily supports lash health through the growth cycle, and a gentle foaming lash cleanser keeps everything clean without breaking down the lift.
Lash extensions: maximum drama
Extensions are individual synthetic lashes applied to each natural lash, customised for length, curl, and volume — delivering a much more noticeable result.
Best for you if: you want visible length and volume, you're comfortable with fills every 2-3 weeks, and you're happy to be careful around oil-based products that break down the adhesive.
Aftercare is more involved. Daily brushing prevents tangling, and oil-free cleansing protects the adhesive bond. A gentle, foaming lash cleanser free from oils is genuinely non-negotiable here.
Can you do both?
Some people use a lash lift as their everyday base and add extensions occasionally for a special event. The same gentle, oil-free aftercare products work across both.
The bottom line
If you want something closer to "your lashes, but better," a lift is the lower-effort, longer-lasting choice. If you want maximum length and volume and don't mind the upkeep, extensions deliver more drama. Either way, aftercare determines how good your results look two weeks in.
Whichever you choose, our Lash & Brow Conditioning Serum and Gentle Foaming Lash Cleanser are formulated to be safe for both lash lifts and extensions.
